Momentum, la mécanique de l'épreuve

JR's work has been extremely prolific in recent years, covering an increasing number of disciplines such as photography, visual arts, film and performing arts.
Twelve years after having authorized JR, then unknown, to stick portraits on the wall of his entrance, the Maison Européenne de la Photographie offered him a carte blanche from 6 November 2018 to 10 February 2019. It is an opportunity to review the artist's career and to present his work in a way that has never been seen before in France.
Prefaced by JL Monterosso and D. Bertinotti, the book is a reflection of this retrospective. He questions the question of the mechanics of the image in JR's work. Its manufacture uses different printing, binding and paper transparency techniques. Four members of Oulipo, a group of writers and mathematicians founded in 1960 by Raymond Queneau and François Le Lionnais, have joined forces to mark its publication with texts that resonate with JR's work.
