A figure of French contemporary photography, first known in the 1980s as a member of the mythical and sulphurous trio Noir Limite (with Florence Chevallier and Jean-Claude Bélégou), Yves Trémorin has for several decades been building a body of work that is as rigorous in its procedures as it is in its processes.
In a practice at the origin as much as at the margin and at the heart of his work, he has never stopped, for more than 40 years, photographing his companion Monique. Several series have been created, often exhibited or reproduced in a fragmented way: "Les Amants magnifiques", "Chambre close", "Un dimanche" or "Monica". Finally, they are published in full in this book, accompanied by numerous unpublished photographs from the 1980s and 1990s, selected with Yves Trémorin from his archives, showing their work process as so many preparatory sketches and drawings.
Through the intimate photographic practice of the artist, who constructs the portrait "from Monique to Monica", companion, actress or myth, this book shows how a loving and photographic relationship constituted the beginnings of the major axes of his work.
This book, born on a proposal by Caroline Bénichou (galerie VU'), will be prefaced by Michel Poivert.
