At first glance, these photographs taken in cities in Arizona and California show a very identifiable America. The faces that appear intermittently seem to come from independent US movies. And here and there, one might think of the American colorist photographers of the 1970s and 1980s. Very quickly, however, the signs of recognition are lacking - here, no big cars, neon signs or gas stations. We are in a quasi-generic reality, a place of absence where the sharpness of the eye and the flutter of the sensations are manifested, echoing a culture that is constantly updating its representations.
