The question always comes up: where are you going?, what do you mean? I never really know. My work is made of time, of dazzling moments of an ancient memory and of an unshakable faith in my intuition. I like to leave the viewer facing the same question to which I cannot answer, with the same materials, as if facing a mirror or a poem. What's the point of giving him all the answers, pointing out a path, dropping him once and for all on one side or the other? Is it not more interesting, for the one who reads as for the one who makes, to approach the photographic act as a journey, as any journey, which tells us its truth by making itself, and whose only purpose is imprecise and intimate? "In-between" is a journey from the centre to the geographical and intimate boundaries, a long walk on the tight and precarious thread of my own borders, a harsh stay between light and shadow. The physical place is important, or not. He says no man's land, the limbo that border territories are, and draws the deadly step involved in passing through the other side. It is a journey from the inside to the outside and back. It is unfinished, yet it has an end. The one who looks, photographer, spectator, voyeur, tells and reads his own Odyssey.
