Act

“Act” is the result of Denis Darzacq’s long work amongst people with learning disabilities. Even though some of the subjects are actors, athletes and dancers, each of them found in the acting and in the ownership of the public space a means to express the complexity of their individuality beyond the assigned label of “handicapped person”.
Denis Darzacq is well aware of the difference a handicap can create. But this difference yields to the assertion of a mental universe particularly sensitive in the way it is staged. Where the direction of the actors relies on the model’s spontaneity, not to say excentricity, while they interact with their surroundings to create a dreamlike dimension.
