Au-delà des apparences

For fifty years, Bernard Descamps has explored photography in all its forms, from documentary to landscape and portraits, from black and white to color.

A restless traveler, Descamps has visited many countries, to meet people and discover their customs (Mali, India, Japan, China, Vietnam, Madagascar, Morocco, etc.).

However, his travel photograph is above all that of the inner journey: his images, of which the purity often approaches abstraction, “do not describe objects or events” but “would like to reveal tiny fragments of time”, the photographer says.
