La pesanteur du lieu is a project realized during a creative residency at the Domaine de Kerguéhennec, in Brittany. Kerguéhennec is a contemporary art center featuring more than 30 sculptures installed throughout the landscape. It is a place full of memory and meaning, where other artists have left their mark.

The series explores the concept of “place” as an axis of emotional connection through darkness, at the edge of what is representable and of the perception of reality. Night appears as a tool for discovery, mystery, and pleasure, as a hieroglyphic space that leads us to imagine something beyond what we truly see. We are entering a realm of the mental, the imperceptible, of discovery.

It is, in essence, a proposal that is more sensorial than reasoned, filled with intangible elements that slowly appear and disappear as we turn the pages.

This work was published with the participation of the Morbihan Department, as part of a creative residency by Israel Ariño at the Domaine de Kerguéhennec from October to November 2016. It also received the support and participation of Galerie VU’ and Grisart.
