Published in 2008, Mesrine brings together for the first time the complete series of photographs taken by photographer Alain Bizos of Jacques Mesrine during his time on the run in 1978–1979. The images are accompanied by a text by Libération journalist Gilles Millet, recounting his encounters with the man the press dubbed “Public Enemy No. 1.” Taken while Mesrine was the most wanted man in France, these photographs provide an exceptional record of a figure who became one of the most infamous criminals in French history. Several of the photographs were previously unpublished at the time of the book’s release.
