What Climate Do We Live In?, 2017

In Oujda, climate shapes space. Throughout the stadium's circulation areas, shade is fragmented into layers of light, filtering heat and wind. But the climate is becoming increasingly unstable: periods of intense heat are now accompanied by unexpected episodes of heavy rainfall. The architecture anticipates these extremes, providing protection, porosity, and adaptability—a sensitive response to challenging environmental conditions.

Béchu & Associés draws its strength from a century-old legacy dedicated to architecture and urban planning. Built on strong family values and driven by a constant spirit of innovation, the studio has established itself as an international benchmark. Under the leadership of Anthony Béchu and his partners, the firm has moved beyond architectural dogma to rethink the building as the true cornerstone of our societies. Their trajectory reflects a rare ability to evolve their architectural language, combining historical expertise with cutting-edge engineering, where the anticipation of future uses shapes form.

Their signature lies in an organic approach to the city, promoting reversibility and the hybridization of complex programs. In response to climate challenges, this multidisciplinary team places biomimicry at the heart of its design philosophy, creating living ecosystems rather than isolated buildings. This vision is exemplified by landmark projects such as the D2 Tower in La Défense, whose innovative exoskeleton reimagines the skyscraper as a true "inhabited tree." Through its work, Béchu & Associés demonstrates that the longevity of an architectural practice can be a powerful driver of environmental foresight.
