Architect and sociologist, Elizabeth de Portzamparc has, for several decades, developed a committed approach to architecture based on the dialogue between the city, the landscape, and the contemporary challenges of sustainability. Her projects, realized around the world, contribute to the social, democratic, economic, and ecological transformation of the territories in which they are built. Advocating the idea that architecture should form a true ecosystem with its material and immaterial environment, she developed the concept of the "architecture of connections," or Nexus, which guides the creation of spaces that foster human interaction, a sense of place, and the development of biodiversity. This vision is embodied in landmark projects such as Marina da Glória in Rio de Janeiro, the Museum of Romanity in Nîmes, the Humathèque bioclimatic library at the Condorcet Campus in Paris, the Yongcheng Archaeological Museum, and the Sophia Antipolis Innovation Hub. Honored with numerous awards in France and internationally, Elizabeth de Portzamparc notably received the International Grand Prize for Architecture at the Belgian Architecture Excellence Awards (BAEXA) in February 2026, recognizing the influence and significance of her work.
