winner of the Swedish Photobook Award 2006 and included in Parr/Badger’s The Photobook: A History volume III, was featured in the exhibition Published – Photo Books in Sweden at the Gothenburg Museum of Art in 2018. It can be seen as a visual diary documenting the author’s life during a period of constant photography, capturing both close acquaintances and strangers encountered by chance. The title Holding refers to a psychiatric concept according to which every child should grow up in a loving and supportive environment, fostering a sense of security and care. The absence of such support can lead, in adulthood, to a constant search for belonging and security, sometimes expressed through symbiotic relationships, destructive behaviors, or feelings of alienation. Through its images, the book presents a self-portrait, but its themes are universal, exploring shared human questions and emotions: the search for support, loneliness, and the quest for meaning in relationships and in life.
