Beirut ma bet mout

In the aftermath of the Beirut port explosion on August 4, 2020, producer and DJ Yuksek — a regular in the capital’s clubs — contributed his track Beirut ma bet mout to a compilation supporting the city’s residents. He now extends this tribute under the same title, but on a broader expressive terrain. The camera has become his ally — both armor and excuse to chart his own path. Presented as diptychs and accompanied by a text from writer Erwan Desplanques, the photographs in this book convey the urgency of an escape: a journey from France to Lebanon, from night to day, from festive music to the delicate silence of the image. Neither conversion nor revolution — simply a change of tempo and focus for an artist always intent on exploring uncharted ground.
